The Book
I have been interviewing some deep christian and unchristian thinkers and toying with what Jesus looks like for the past few years since I left church. It has been 4 years since I have been a ‘member’ of any church or even really attended a church.
A little over a year ago my wife Leslie and I decided to leave the country for a while and see the world. Before I left I came up with a better definition for what I believed I was than the title ‘Christian’, I chose the title ‘Hopeful skeptic’.
During our 15 months of traveling to 12 countries and having some incredible adventures I explored what I really thought it meant to be something that I call a Hopeful skeptic.
There are a lot of people out there are trying to be relevant by not wanting to call themselves christians, but the truth is they don’t really choose another name, or find an identity they just complain about having to be labeled ‘christian’ and getting lumped in with people who are different than them. During this past 15 months I found an identity. I have left the fold of the Christians, but I have found something that I think is close to the message of Jesus. I explore this all in The Hopeful Skeptic.
The Hopeful Skeptic is out now on Likewise Books
