2009 is all but over and instead of making my normal top ten list of music and movies I thought I would just talk about some of my favorite parts of the year. I didn’t have ten awesome movies of the year, and I didn’t have ten albums that blew me away. But there was some pretty kick ass stuff of 2009. My favorite album was by far David Bazan’s, Curse Your Branches, and I enjoyed getting to hear him live and interviewing him for the podcast, I also listened to The Black Atlantic a lot and their album Reverence for Fallen Trees. I typically like the musical pickings of Jon Black so if you want to check out his list it is here, but whereas there was probably a lot more musically that happened in 2009, Curse Your Branches is going to be the album I listen to the rest of my life. It is the one this year that changed me.
Movies didn’t do a lot for me this year. Leslie suggested one that I particularly liked, Shrink. I thought it was excellent, and I liked the new Star Trek film.
Hmm, what else? This year I enjoyed reading It’s Really All About God and a whole lot of Neil Gaiman books, none of which came out this year. I also liked reading the hard copy of my book, The Hopeful Skeptic.
This year also marked the end of a trip around the world that Leslie and I started about this time two years ago. Many of those pictures are up on my MobileMe gallery.
Hmm, yeah, sorry for the lack of awesome lists. Check out Jon Black’s if you need some music to listen to. I think 2010 has a lot of potential. And hopefully we won’t loose so many famous people. And maybe Alabama Football will crush the earth again.
Hope your 09 was blog/story worthy.
