Friday 5ive [pet peeves]

By Nick in inspiration

I wish I didn’t have to be limited to 5. I invite you to add your list in the comments, perhaps you will hit some of my top 20.

These are my five top pet peeves.

1. When someone uses a superlative to describe something to me, be it a movie, album, or travel destination and the person, place, or thing of note was not worthy of a superlative.
2. People that walk extremely slow in public places. Especially when they walk abreast in groups that take up a significant percentage of the public walking area.
3. Fundamentalists that think other fundamentalists (ones with different fundamentals) are crazy.
4. The use of the phrase “outside the box”, especially because the phrase is often overused and the thinking it produces is typically not outside.
5. John Piper.

i’m don’t have alot of pet peeves, I mean I seriously love nails on a chalkboard. But one for sure is when folks use the term myth in place of misconception. Like, ’7 myths of weight loss’ or ’7 myths of climate change.’ It is a serious basterization of what a myth is. Though, i sympathize with the marketing folk, that it doesnt sound as fancy to say the “7 misconceptions of caffiene addiction” This pet peeve of mine is why I’ve always been leary of watching Myth Busters, though I always enjoy my time watching them dispell misinformation, I feel just alittle peeved while I look on.

I couldn’t agree more. Shall we reintroduce the legend?
